French and English group winner Echo of Light has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Sheikh Mohammed's Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, England. His fee is 5,000 pounds.
Racing for Godolphin, Echo of Light won seven of 16 races, including five stakes, and earned $422,421. Sheikh Mohammed, the Godolphin founder, bought Echo of Light as a yearling for 1.2 million euros at Goffs.
Bred in Great Britain by Kilcarn Stud, Echo of Light scored his big win in last year's Prix Daniel Wildenstein Castel Marie-Louise de la Baule (Fr-II). He also won three English group events and was group I-placed in Italy.
A member of the sole crop of foals sired by Godolphin great Dubai Millennium, Echo of Light is out of multiple stakes producer Spirit of Tara, a group II-placed daughter by Sadler's Wells.
"Echo of Light was a record-breaking racehorse, with a style of running reminiscent of his sire," said director of stallions Sam Bullard. "He's a very good-looker, also in his sire's mould, and he's got a fabulous pedigree."
