Bob Baffert said Sunday that Indian Express will not run in the Preakness due to a minor foot problem that will prevent him from working the colt this week.
Baffert said it's nothing serious, but that the Santa Anita Derby runner-up is off the Triple Crown trail and will point for the Affirmed Handicap at Hollywood Park.
"It's really not bad, but I'm just not comfortable breezing him with it," Baffert said.
Indian Express had a horrible trip in the Kentucky Derby, getting squeezed at the start, then was bumped going into the clubhouse turn before tiring badly.
Indian Express' defection brings the number of Preakness horses, which has fluctuated back and forth over the past several days, back down to nine
