New York stallion Ends Well was euthanized at Gus Schoenborn Jr.'s Contemporary Stallions near Coxsackie the morning of Oct. 25. The 19-year-old syndicated stallion fractured his right hind leg in his stall. Ends Well was the first stallion Schoenborn stood at the farm.
A son of Lyphard, Ends Well was a graded stakes winner on dirt and turf. His graded wins on the main track came in the Michigan Mile and One-Eighth (gr. II) and Budweiser-Hawthorne Gold Cup (gr. II) Handicaps. Over the lawn, he took the United Nations Handicap (gr. IT) and a division of the Rutgers (gr. IIT) Handicap in his graded turf conquests. He won 10 of 35 starts and earned $872,093.
Ends Well, who was produced from champion Late Bloomer (by Stage Door Johnny), sired a dozen stakes winners.
