Thomas Reigle announced that graded stakes winner Patton has arrived at his Reigle Heir Farm near Hershey, Pa., for the 2001 breeding season. The 9-year-old stallion (Lord At War -- Slew Me Down, by Seattle Slew) stood the past breeding season at Brereton C. Jones' Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky., and remains the property of Jones.
Patton, whose first foals are 2-year-olds, scored his big win in the Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup Sprint Championship Handicap (gr. III) over a field that included Forty Won, Our Emblem, Punch Line, Meadow Monster, and Top Account. He was retired with six wins from 18 starts and earnings of $237,462. His fee is $2,000 live foal.
Reigle Heir also will be the new home for graded stakes winner De Niro.
Eight-year-old De Niro (Gulch -- Waya, by Faraway Son) captured the Tremont Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) and was retired with two wins from a dozen starts and $110,844 in earnings. He stood the 2000 season at Vinery near Lexington and has sired two stakes winners.
