British Columbia import Shacane worked three furlongs in :37 under Jose Valdivia, Jr. at Hollywood Park Wednesday for his United States debut Saturday in the $150,000 Mervyn LeRoy Handicap (gr. II).

Shacane, a 4-year-old gelding by Jumron, won five of seven starts at Hastings Park last year before joining the Laura de Seroux stable.

De Seroux also will start Total Impact in the 1 1/16-mile test. The 5-year-old Chilean horse jogged at Hollywood Wednesday morning under assistant Jeff Ford after breezing Tuesday at San Luis Rey Downs.

Wooden Phone was shipped across town Wednesday from trainer Bob Baffert's headquarters at Santa Anita. Wooden Phone has recorded a series of sharp works since a dismal effort in the San Bernardino Handicap April 5 in his first start in 15 months.
