Shadwell Farm general manager and vice president Rick Nichols is recovering from an undiagnosed illness in an English hospital. Nichols, who traveled from the Lexington farm to view the May 3 Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) at Newmarket, was taken to the hospital the day after the Saturday race.

"He felt ill the night before and went to the hospital Sunday morning," said farm manager Greg Clarke. "He is undergoing treatment and is taking antibiotics. His family is there with him and his recovery is going smoothly. We expect him home soon."

Shadwell is owned by Sheikh Hamdan.
