Irish champion Orpen was represented by his first two winners within 10 minutes of each other May 1. At Redcar in England, his daughter Obe Bold won at five furlongs in :58.70. Bred by Saud Bin Saad, the filly races for Comtake-Welding Engineering Specialists. Obe Bold's win was followed by the triumph of the Orpen filly Enrika's Gift at Rome. She was bred by Patrick Gleeson,
