House In Wood (by Woodman), dam of the grade I Garden City Stakes winner Alexander Tango (Ire) , topped yesterday's one-day Tattersalls February Sale at Newmarket in England.
Philip Brady of Graiguenoe Park Stud in Co Tipperary, who previously part-owned the mare, bought out his partners by bidding 450,000 guineas. Agent Charlie Gordon-Watson was underbidder.
There was one other six-figure lot, the only offering in foal to Ashford Stud's Giant's Causeway . She was Fortunately (by Forzando), a winner at Sandown in Britain and at Del Mar. Agent Will Edmeades paid 130,000 guineas for her with fellow agent Geoffrey Howson the underbidder.
Although the total number of horses sold at the event was off nearly 20% over last year, the average price showed a healthy 19.3% increase, resulting in an aggregate decline of less than 1%.
