Making his first start since winning last year's NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. I), Flaxman Holdings' homebred Domedriver finished second in the one-mile Prix du Muquet (Fr-II) at Saint-Cloud Thursday while carrying 130 pounds.
Domedriver was four lengths off the pace entering the straight and made headway when roused inside the final two furlongs. However, in the final eighth of a mile he was unable to pass leader Dandoun, who was carrying 123 pounds, and crossed the wire a neck back in second. Bernebeau was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third.
Irish-bred Domedriver has now won six of 17 career starts with four seconds and three thirds and has earned just over $820,000 for trainer Bary Pascal.
Dandoun, who is owned by Prince Faisal and trained by J.L. Dunlop, entered the Prix du Muquet off a win in the Doncaster Mile March 20.
