Offlee Wild's Connections Get First Shot, Will Select Post 7

The Azalea Stable connections of Kentucky Derby starter Offlee Wild will get first shot at selecting their preferred post position 7 when the draw is conducted later Wednesday.

When 17 horses were entered Wednesday for Saturday's $1-million Derby, Churchill Downs racing officials also conducted a draw to determine the order in which connections of the starters will get to pick their preferred post position. The second part of the draw process, the actual selection of a post position, will take place at 5 p.m. (ET) Wednesday.

An Azalea Stable representative on hand for the draw was in touch with trainer T. V. Smith and said they would select post 7 for the Wild Again colt. The connections of Supah Blitz will draw 17th and last.

The complete selection for Derby positions will be, from 1 to 17: Offlee Wild, Funny Cide, Outta Here, Lone Star Sky, Buddy Gil, Brancusi, Empire Maker, Peace Rules, Indian Express, Atswhatimtalknbout, Ten Cents a Shine, Domestic Dispute, Eye of the Tiger, Ten Most Wanted, Sir Cherokee, Scrimshaw, Supah Blitz.
