Pope McLean announced that Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner Silic will enter stud at his Crestwood Farm near Lexington for a fee of $3,500 live foal. Five-year-old Silic, who captured last year's Mile and finished second in Eclipse Award balloting for top grass male, finished out his career with eight wins from 15 starts and earnings of $1,422,299.

Silic (Sillery -- Balletomane, by Sadler's Wells) was a group stakes winner in his native France, and captured three other U.S. graded stakes. He won the 2000 Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes (gr. IT) in what was his final start, and took last year's Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile when it was a grade II turf event and the Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes (gr. IIIT).
