Kifer’s parents, who are residents of Orlando, were in attendance to watch their daughter’s victory, and Kifer said she plans to celebrate with them at home tonight.
Martinez, a past leading jockey at Tampa Bay, delivered five wins over the Oldsmar oval. He scored his first victory on Karens’smagictouch, a 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Sir Leon who is owned by Mark E. Pelon and trained by Walter Bernhart. Martinez scored again in the fifth race with Regra Tres wearing the colors of Haras Santa Maria de Araras. Regra Tres is a 4-year-old Belong to Me filly who was bred in Florida by her owners and was saddled by trainer Richard Ciardullo.
Martinez found his third win of the day in the next race, this time on the Luis Carvajal Jr. trainee Mark Me. The 4-year-old filly scored her third lifetime victory today for owner Grace Levy. The jockey attained his fourth victory aboard Miss Naples, a 5-year-old Capture the Gold mare owned by Tom Fontana and trained by James E. Price. He booted home his final win of the day in the closing event when he guided first-time starter Don’tputmeback for owner Charles Patton and the stable of Tom Proctor.
