Coolmore Lexington Stakes winner Scrimshaw breezed five furlongs in 1:02 1/5 in the pre-dawn darkness of Churchill Downs on Monday as the colt underwent his final prep for the 129th Kentucky Derby.

"I don't have to do too much with this horse," Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas said of the Gulch colt who raced his way into Derby contention with the Lexington win at Keeneland on April 19. "It was pretty much what we wanted. He actually might have galloped that fast the other day. I am pretty much in a holding pattern with him. I am not going to do too much with him since he just raced a week-and-a-half ago."

Owned by Robert and Beverly Lewis, Scrimshaw has won three of five career starts. He has also finished third in the Santa Catalina victory of Domestic Dispute and fourth in the Hutcheson Stakes.
