Brancusi, breezes over Keeneland's grass course.
With no workouts scheduled at a rainy Churchill Downs Saturday morning, Brancusi underwent his preparations for the May 3 race over the yielding grass course at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.

The son of Deputy Commander was timed in 1:43 4/5 for the 1-mile breeze.

"He was breezing good," said trainer Patrick Biancone. "He was breezing good."

Biancone said he opted to work the colt on grass rather than the main track because "it was too slippery."

With an improvement in the weather, workouts are scheduled to resume by Derby contenders on Sunday at Churchill Downs, with likely favorite Empire Maker and stablemate Peace Rules scheduled to breeze.
