Grade I winner and millionaire Nobiz Like Shobiz has been retired from racing. Stud plans are being decided.
A 4-year-old son of Albert the Great, Nobiz Like Shobiz scored his big win in last year’s Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I). He earned a career total of $1,544,730 racing for his breeder, Elizabeth Valando.
According to trainer Barclag Tagg’s website, Nobiz Like Shobiz was sidelined earlier this year while being preparing for a campaign that would have been centered on the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) in October. A Florida veterinarian detected a suspensory problem, but Central Kentucky veterinarian Larry Bramlage did not find an injury in a later examination. Bramlage suggested a month rest, but Tagg felt that the time off wouldn’t allow for Nobiz Like Shobiz to be at full strength for the Breeders’ Cup.
Nobiz Like Shobiz, who ran fourth in the 2007 Mile, also won last year’s National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (gr. II), Jamaica Handicap (gr. IIT), Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT), and Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III). At 2, he captured the Remsen Stakes (gr. II).
Nobiz Like Shobiz is boarded at Indian Creek Farm near Paris, Ky.
A Kentucky-bred, Nobiz Like Shobiz is out of the Storm Catmare Nightstorm.
