Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey announced that stakes winner Catienus will enter stud in 2001 at Ramsey Farm near Nicholasville, Ky., for a fee of $6,000 live foal. The 6-year-old son of Storm Cat captured the Charles Staats Memorial Stakes and ran second twice in the Saratoga Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II), once while registering a 115 Beyer Speed Figure. He also finished in the runner-up spot in the Suburban Handicap (gr. II) and was third in the Whitney Handicap (gr. I).

Catienus, who was campaigned initially in Europe, has won five of 22 starts and earned $370,386. His dam, Diamond City (by Mr. Prospector), was graded stakes-placed, and his third dam, major winner Cathy Honey, is the granddam of Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Aloma's Ruler.

Catienus currently is in training at Churchill Downs.
