King Robyn Wins Hollywood's Harry Henson

Cornejo Racing's 4-5 favorite King Robyn got a perfect stalking trip under jockey Alex Solis and pulled away for a three-length victory in Hollywood Park's opening day feature, the $82,200 Harry Henson Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf Wednesday.

The Florida-bred bay gelding by Robyn Dancer, trained by Jeff Mullins and carrying 121 pounds, completed the 5 1/2-furlong journey in 1:10 1/5. Jimmy O, a 28-1 shot finished second, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of pacesetting Slew's Prince in a field of nine.

In winning for the third time in four starts in Southern California since shipping from Florida, King Robyn sat third, some three lengths off the pace of Slew's Prince, who set off in fractional calls of :21 1/5 and :43 2/5. Solis swung King Robyn three-wide in the stretch, moving past Jimmy O, who was stuck inside while in tight behind Slew's Prince, at the eighth pole. Jimmy O waited and came around Slew's Prince on the outside to gain second.

King Robyn won his second straight stakes after also taking the San Pedro on Santa Anita's main track in mid-March. His lone loss in Southern California was a second-place finish to Santa anita Derby (gr. I) winner Buddy Gill in the Baldwin Stakes (gr. IIIT). King Robyn won three of eight in his home state as a 2-year-old. He earned $46,220 Wednesday to run his career tally to $205,470.

The winner paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.60. Jimmy O, ridden by Matt Garcia, returned $14.20 and $7.80. Slew's Prince, with Gary Stevens aboard, paid $4.80. The $2 exacta was $34.60.
