Mineshaft, winner of the New Orleans Handicap at Fair Grounds, heads a field of eight older colts and geldings in the grade III, $150,000-added Ben Ali to be run Friday at Keeneland.

Neil Howard trains the son of A.P. Indy for Will Farish, Temple Webber, Jr. and James Elkins, Jr. Robby Albarado, who has won four races on Mineshaft, has been named to ride.

Charles J. Cella's Crafty Shaw is a major contender in the Ben Ali. Narrowly beaten by Lido Palace in the Clark at Churchill Downs, the Peter Vestal trainee was given a rest and then returned at Oaklawn Park with an allowance victory. He has finished on the board in his last three starts, all of them stakes. Keeneland's leading rider of all-time, Pat Day will take the reins.

The Ben Ali field from the rail out: Malmaison (Cornelio Velasquez), Mineshaft (Albarado), American Style (Bailey), Crafty Shaw (Day), Metatron (Kent Desormeaux), X Country (Eddie Zuniga), Horrible Evening (Larry Melancon), and El Gran Papa (Prado).
