Youbet.com will award "Promotional credits" to settle a dispute with players who had winning trifecta bets from the April 12 Wood Memorial deducted from their accounts due to a tote system snafu.
Chuck Champion, Youbet's chief executive officer, told the Daily Racing Form that the credits are equal the amount of winnings deducted. The $2 trifecta return on the Wood was $83.50.
A system failure caused the tote system to void all the bets some 12 hours after the Wood was run, according to Champion. The failure was the result of some technological problems caused by a special Pick 3 wagering pool created that day.
The bets, made through the AmTote hub in Oregon, were refunded, but so much time had elapsed by the time of the determination, many players had wagered their trifecta winnings, according to Champion.
