Showing the riding style that made him the leading rider at River Downs last year, jockey John McKee made his return to the Ohio racetrack a winning one.
McKee, currently riding at Keeneland in Lexington, won the April 14 allowance feature at River Downs aboard Danzarina Gaucha. He was scheduled to compete in more races at the track April 15.
McKee returned to the area after a successful winter meet at Aqueduct in New York.
"I'm not here for the money," McKee said. "It's giving it back to the people who got me started. It was a good feeling being back in the winner's circle where I had my first winner. It was a homecoming of sorts. Everyone welcomed me back--the jockeys and the fans."
