Saeed Suhail's Dilshaan rallied from the back of the 10-horse field to earn his first career victory in the Racing Post Trophy (Eng-I), winning by 2 1/2 lengths Saturday at Doncaster, England. Under jockey Johnny Murtagh, Dilshaan completed the mile in 1:45.87 over soft turf. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt was sent off at 14-1.
Tamburlaine came home second, 3/4 of a length in front of Bonnard. Darwin was fourth, followed by 2-1 favorite Freud, Dayglow Dancer, Grandera, Coventry Stakes (Eng-III) winner CD Europe, Cauvery, and Snowstorm.
In his lone prior start, Dilshaan (Darshaan--Avila, by Ajdal) finished second in a September race at Sandown Park.
"Fair dues to the horse this was only his second run and he will be the real article next year," Murtagh told Sporting Life. "I'm sure he will get one and a half miles."
