Delaware Park will have some new faces when its 2003 spring meet opens April 26. Trainer Joe Orseno will split his stable into two divisions. He plans to keep a division in New York and to move a division to Delaware. Other new outfits expected at Delaware Park in 2003 include: from Florida - Enrique Alonso, Clarence Zehender, Ricardo Morales, and Doug Potter; from New York - Dominick Schettino and John Campo; from the mid west (Oaklawn/Prairie Meadows) - Kenn Huffman; and from Kentucky - Charles Simon.... Skinner, Auctioners and Appraisers of Antiques will auction the estate of Jacques and Louise Wimpfheimer in its Boston gallery. The auction will include European furniture and decorative arts. The Wimpfheimer's collection will be auctioned April 26 at 10 a.m., and includes a wide variety of horse-related material including portraits of winning horses once owned by the family, and silver and silver-plate trophies from major races. Jacques Wimpfheimer was the founder of The Blood-Horse magazine and a five-term president of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association and was named "The Man Who Did the Most for Racing" by the New York Turf Writers Association...One week before the Kentucky Derby--at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th--the National Museum of Racing's 8th annual Countdown to the Triple Crown highlights this year's Derby contenders. Featuring video highlights and expert opinions, the program is held in the Museum's Hall of Fame Theater at 191 Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs. Admission is free. Returning as the program host is Mike Kane, correspondent for The Blood-Horse magazine and columnist for the Daily Gazette. Panelists are Bill Heller, handicapper for the Daily Gazette, reporter for The Thoroughbred Times, and author of 14 books; Nick Kling, OTB Network program host and handicapper for the Troy Record and The Saratogian; and Michael Veitch, OTB Network program host and turf columnist for The Saratogian.
