IEAH Stables and partner Andy Cohen announced Jan. 30 that grade I winner Frost Giant will stand at Empire Stud in Hudson, NY. No stud fee was announced.
A 6-year-old son of Giant's Causeway , Frost Giant won four of 15 career starts and earned $454,630. Purchased by agent Demi O'Byrne as a yearling at the 2004 Keeneland September Sale, Frost Giant began his career in Ireland, where he won the Kilternan Stakes (Ire-III) and Killanullan Stakes (Ire-III).
Purchased by IEAH and Cohen, Frost Giant was trained by Rick Dutrow to post an upset victory in the 2008 Suburban Handicap (gr. I) at 40-1 odds.
"Frost Giant was a very talented and versatile racehorse winning on dirt and turf from seven furlongs to a mile and a quarter," said Michael Iavarone, president of IEAH. "We are supporting him with mares and look forward to racing his babies."
