Inamorato Coming to U.S., But Not for Derby
Three-year-olds Inamorato and Danuta are traveling to the United States on April 5, Godolphin announced, but will not run in the Kentucky Derby or the Kentucky Oaks next month.Inamorato, who was the unlucky third in the group II UAE Derby on March 29 after having to be switched twice while trapped along the inside, and Danuta, handy winner of the UAE Oaks at Nad al Sheba Thursday, will instead be aimed at American feature races during the year. Both are part of a consignment of 22 Godolphin horses that includes older runners Essence of Dubai and Imperial Gesture scheduled to leave Dubai for Belmont Park."We just felt that neither Inamorato nor Danuta were quite ready for the rigors of Churchill Downs," Simon Crisford, racing manager for Godolphin, said in a statement. "Running them in the Derby and the Oaks might jeopardize their chances later in the year. They're both really, really fine horses with lots of potential."
