Dancinginmydreams Recovering Following Surgery

Ogden Phipps' Dancinginmydreams, who broke down approaching the stretch during Saturday's Frizette Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park, is recovering following extensive surgery on her broken right leg Saturday night at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center.

"She came through the surgery fine, she came out of the anesthesia and woke up in the swimming pool fine, and she's accepted the brace they put on her leg," said Buzz Tenney, assistant to trainer Shug McGaughey. "There will be more surgeries down the road, but we're all optimistic It's remarkable what they are able to do in veterinary medicine nowadays -- eight or 10 years ago, they might not have been able to save her at all."

Dancinginmydreams (Seeking the Gold--Oh What a Dance 87, by Nijinsky II), a full sister of champion Heavenly Prize and Matron Stakes (gr. I) winner Oh What a Windfall, was sent off as the favorite in the Frizette following a fast-closing second-place finish in the Matron Stakes (gr. I). She suffered a comminute fracture of the first phalanx during the running of Saturday's Frizette but was quickly pulled up by jockey Pat Day.

The Frizette was the third consecutive race at Belmont Park Saturday which saw the betting favorite vanned off the track.
