Industry veteran Richard Duchossois was given the William H. May Award by the Association of Racing Commissioners International during the group’s recent annual conference held in Lexington. The award recognizes meritorious service to racing by an individual or group.
Duchossois, who is the chairman of Arlington Park, was selected for the award by the RCI executive committee.
In addition to the May Award, Bernard J. Daney of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission was honored with the first Lifetime Achievement Award. The Len Foote Award, which is named in honor of the longtime executive director of the California Horse Racing Board, was given to Lisa Underwood, executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Underwood was selected by her peers in recognition of her work during the past year. Edward “Ned” Bonnie of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission received the Pew Award for his vision and vitality.
