An e-mail circulated to farm managers in the Central Kentucky area warns of shifting weather patterns for the coming weekend. The e-mail is signed by Ryan S. Conboy, assistant to the executive director of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.

The e-mail reads as follows:

Low temperatures with overnight frosts are forecast for Central Kentucky during Saturday and Sunday nights (March 29 and 30) to be preceded by thunderstorms possibly accompanied by winds and hail on Friday evening. Changes in weather patterns have in the past been associated with the occurrence of MRLS (mare reproductive loss syndrome). In consideration of the above, it is recommended that horse owners and farm managers in central Kentucky review their standard practices for the management.
