(Edited press release)
The New York Racing Association and Horse Racing Radio Network announced May 27 that HRRN will provide the exclusive terrestrial radio broadcast of the June 6 Belmont Stakes (gr. I).
HRRN will provide live coverage of the 141st Belmont from 5:00-7:00 ET. The broadcast will be carried on multiple HRRN affiliates throughout the country and streamed live on the HRRN website, www.horseracingradio.net.
In addition to its national Belmont Stakes coverage, HRRN has scheduled a two-hour live broadcast of the stakes races on the Belmont undercard from 2-4 p.m. ET, featuring the True North (gr. II), Just A Game (gr. I), and Acorn (gr. I) Stakes. A complete listing of affiliates can be found on the HRRN website.
HRRN will also host its popular Saturday morning talk show, the Equine Forum, live from Belmont Park on Belmont Stakes morning from 8-10 a.m. ET. The Equine Forum can be heard on WLXO 96.1 FM in Lexington, as well as free live streaming at www.horseracingradio.net.
“The Belmont is one of the great races on the calendar each year regardless of whether there is an opportunity for a Triple Crown” said Mike Penna, president of HRRN. “The 1 1/2-mile distance is rare in American dirt racing and makes for a true championship test. It’s exciting for us to showcase this great event to our listeners around the world.”
“The Horse Racing Radio Network is one of the premier providers of live racing coverage in the country,” said NYRA president and CEO Charles Hayward. “Fans across the world who tune in to HRRN on Belmont Stakes Day will be treated to an exciting and comprehensive broadcast.”
