Citibank, which absorbed Cal Fed Bank with its acquisition of Golden State Bancorp last year, will be the new sponsor as Hollywood Park stages Citibank California Gold Rush IV on April 26.

Gold Rush Day was introduced three years ago. Handle has exceeded $16 million each year, including $16.2 million in 2002 when $3.5 million was wagered on-track.

"We're very excited about our partnership with Citibank," said Allen Gutterman, vice president, marketing, Hollywood Park. "Cal Fed paved the way for this relationship. Citibank is going to take it to the next level."

Citibank California Gold Rush IV is scheduled for opening weekend of the spring/summer meet. The feature race is the $250,000 Citibank Snow Chief Stakes for 3-year-olds. The program consists of 10 stakes races exclusively for California-bred horses with purses exceeding $1.3 million.
