Beautiful Pleasure, off to good start as broodmare.
Beautiful Pleasure, the champion older mare of 1999, produced her first foal, a colt by Thunder Gulch, March 25 at owner John Oxley's Fawn Leap Farm near Midway, Ky.

The 8-year-old mare, by Maudlin -- Beautiful Bid, by Baldski, will be bred back to Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos, who also raced for Oxley.

Both Beautiful Pleasure and Monarchos were trained by John T. Ward Jr.

Beautiful Pleasure won 10 of 25 starts and earned $2,734,078. During her championship season, she won three grade I races including the Breeders' Cup Distaff. In all, Beautiful Pleasure won six grade I events from age two to five.

Beautiful Pleasure was bred in Florida by Mike Sherman's Farnsworth Farm and purchased by Oxley for $480,000 at the 1997 Keeneland April 2-year-olds in training sale.
