Graded stakes winner Lunarpal came through with his first winner when his son Derickhand won July 11 at Evangeline Downs in his initial start. Campaigned by trainer Brett A. Brinkman, Derickhand captured the five-furlong race by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:00.53.
Bred in Louisiana by Highclere, Derickhand is out of the grade II-winning Zuppardo's Prince mare Astas Foxy Lady and is a half-brother to eight winners, including stakes winner Daytime Robbery.
Lunarpal (Successful Appeal--Quiet Eclipse, by Quiet American) stands at Le Mesa Stallions near Carencro, La. His 2009 fee was $2,500.
