Anabaa colt Yell continued his rout of the older horses in the Australia Stakes (Aust-I) in Melbourne, Australia on March 22, stretching successive group I victories to three and his winning sequence to five.
The 3 year-old was given the run of the race just off the speed by Darren Gauci in the $350,000 (Australian funds) weight-for-age sprint and dashed clear at the top of Moonee Valley's short stretch to easily defeat Australasia's best sprinters.
Yell (7-2) was untroubled to hold on to win by three-quarters of a length at the end of the regulation 1,200 meters, the fast-finishing Dash For Cash (20-1) the nearest of his 10 pursuers at the wire. Spinning Hill (3-1) also closed with a late rally for third another 1 1/2 lengths away.
Bel Esprit ran favorite at 11-4 but never got into the race at any stage. He finished seventh. North Boy and Rubitano fared even worse, coming in at the tail.
Dual Hong Kong Sprint (HK-II) winner Falvelon signed off from Melbourne with a sound fourth. His final campaign is scheduled to close with the Stradbroke (Aust-I) in his home state of Queensland in June.
The 1:10.54 time is the second quickest in this race since the oval was reconfigured and a new surface laid six years ago.
Dash For Cash is the best to date from the first crop of Seeking the Gold horse Secret Savings and was opening his fall campaign. The gray 4 year-old won two group Is last season including the Futurity Stakes, the race in which Yell demolished his rivals on the way to the Australia Stakes.
Yell is unbeaten in three starts against his elders, starting with the C.F. Orr early in February. The second crop Anabaa son has won at seven or 14 starts for Jack and Bob Ingham. The $254,500 first prize advanced his earnings to $1,086,050
