(Edited HRTV release)
HorseRacing TV has been honored with a Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award in the "Sports -- One-Time Special" category for the network's "Inside Information: Dubai World Cup" show.
The Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards encompasses Kentucky, and the ceremony took place July 25 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, KY.
Phil Kubel, HRTV's vice president of post production, was the director, videographer and editor of the show, and accepted the Award on the network's behalf.
In HRTV's 30-minute "Inside Information: Dubai World Cup" show, which aired for the first time on HRTV in April, 2008, reporter Scott Hazelton offered a special look at his trip to the Middle East, and witnessed how Sheikh Mohammad, the vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the Ruler of Dubai, has transformed the desert region into a horseracing metropolis.
Hazelton also detailed Sheikh Mohammad's vision of horse racing's future in the UAE, with the continued development of a new billion-dollar racing facility called "Meydan" (which is slated to open in 2010).
"We are very grateful to everyone at the Dubai Racing Club for their assistance with this show," said Amy J. Zimmerman, executive producer for HRTV. "It would not have been possible without the assistance from many people, with Terry Spargo, Daisy Phipps and our friends at Sunset & Vine being at the top of the list."
Daisy Phipps was the field producer in Dubai. The network's Steve Kurland and Matt Wolff assisted in post-production, and they were supported by many others in HRTV's production department.
The Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award is the third award HRTV has received in the past three years. HRTV received a Thoroughbred Eclipse Award in 2008 for the Hennegan Brothers documentary, "The First Saturday in May," which aired in October, earning a Media Eclipse Award in the National TV Feature programming category. Two years earlier, Pony Highway Productions and HRTV won a Media Eclipse in the Television Features Category for the documentary, "On The Muscle." In addition, HRTV earned honorable mention recognition for an Eclipse Award in 2007.
