Darley Stud Management announced the retirement of English champion Fly to the Stars to Haras du Logis in France. Darley, a division of Sheikh Mohammed's Dalham Hall Stud, declared a stud fee of 25,000 francs (approximately $3,250).
Initially owned by Peter Savill, Fly to the Stars scored his greatest victory in the 1999 Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes (Eng-I) for the Maktoum family's Godolphin and was England's champion older miler that year. Fly to the Stars (Bluebird -- Rise and Fall, by Mill Reef) was a group II winner in France and was stakes-placed in Ireland, Dubai, and Turkey. In his sole U.S. start, he finished fifth in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT).
Six-year-old Fly to the Stars was retired with six wins from 24 starts and earnings of $561,747.
