Irish group winner Monashee Mountain, who was sold for $1 million at the 1998 Keeneland July yearling sale, has been retired from racing and will enter stud at John Magnier and partners' Coolmore Stud in Ireland. A fee will be announced at a later date.
Coolmore associate Demi O'Byrne bought Monashee Mountain at the Keeneland sale, and the colt initially raced in the name of Michael Tabor, then later for him and Magnier's wife, Sue. A son of Danzig, Monashee Mountain was retired with four wins -- all in stakes -- from seven starts and earnings of $110,117. Monashee Mountain is a half-brother to millionaire Tomisue's Delight and stakes winner Delta Music, and his dam, Prospectors Delite (by Mr. Prospector), was a grade I winner.
