Mr. Sekiguchi, the highest priced yearling of 2004, has arrived at the Appleton family’s Bridlewood Farm near Ocala, Fla., where he will stand in 2010. He stood his other two years at stud at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington for $5,000.
“Mr. Sekiguchi embodies all of the right ingredients to be a top stallion,” said Bridlewood general manager George G. Isaacs. “We’re excited about this unique opportunity. Seeing is believing. He’s a wonderful genetic and physical specimen."
An $8-million Keeneland September yearling, Mr. Sekiguchi made all four of his starts at Santa Anita, winning twice and finishing second twice.
A 6-year-old son of Storm Cat, Mr. Sekiguchi is out of the graded stakes-winning Seeking the Goldmare Welcome Surprise, a half-sister to prominent sires A.P. Indyand Summer Squall.
