Trainer Bobby Frankel says Strub Stakes winner Medaglia d'Oro won't be traveling to the Middle East for the $6 million Dubai World Cup, but the pending war in that region was not the main reason.

All was not right with Medaglia d'Oro, who had been scheduled to begin the arduous flight Saturday following a Friday workout at Hollywood Park. Frankel told The Daily Racing Form the horse will not run in the Mar. 29 race at Nad Al Sheba Race Course.

"He didn't eat up last night, and that's not like him," Frankel said Saturday afternoon at Gulfstream Park. "There's a virus going through my barn and a lot of my horses got sick. The blood looks good, but there's stress in shipping."

Medaglia d'Oro worked seven furlongs in 1:26.80. Frankel said the 4-year-old will be pointed to the $500,000 Oaklawn Park Handicap (gr. II) on April 5, if he recovers in time.

Harlan's Holiday is the lone North American hope in the World Cup.
