Buffythecenterfold to Return in Santa Paula

Buffythecenterfold returns to the races in Sunday's $75,000 Santa Paula Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.

Buffythecenterfold finished seventh, beaten by 20 lengths, in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) Oct. 26 on a "good" track at Arlington Park.

"I think it was one of those things where everything was wrong," trainer Mel Stute said of the Breeders' Cup experience. "It rained, it was misty and the track was damp. In my opinion, she didn't seem to like the track. My exercise girl said she thought the track was too hard for (to wear) stickers, but Matt (jockey Matt Garcia) said she just kind of slipped and slid all the way around."

Del Mar's Sorrento Stakes (gr. II) winner is owned by Frank Stronach and Allen Brian.
