Jim FitzGerald and James Keogh have dissolved their partnership in the FitzGerald/Keogh Agency, a successful sales consignment company, and will pursue separate interests. Since it was formed four years ago, the Kentucky-based agency had sold the $2.6-million Beautiful Bid and several other seven-figure horses.
In a recent letter to the company's clients, FitzGerald and Keogh described the split as "amicable" and wrote that it was prompted, in part, by the departure of their sales coordinator, Julia Rice.
"We've chosen to take different paths," said James Keogh in a March 14 interview. "But we still own mares together, and we're still the best of friends."
Prior to becoming partners with FitzGerald, James Keogh operated an agency known as Grovendale, and he will sell horses under that name in the future. FitzGerald conducted business through his Knockgriffin Farm.
FitzGerald/Keogh's offices will remain open until March 28.
