A Maria's Mon colt blazed a quarter mile in :21 2/5 Sunday, turning in the fastest time at that distance during the second session of the inaugural under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. The session was split between Sunday and Monday after rain and gusting winds caused OBS officials to call it off early Sunday afternoon and reschedule the rest of the workouts for Monday. (The first session was held on Saturday.)Consigned by Moonshadow Farm, Maria's Mon colt was produced from the winning 18-year-old Dr. Blum mare Making Rounds. He is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Wavering Warrior (by Wavering Monarch). Mark Casse purchased the son of Maria's Mon for $50,000 at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale.A Wild Rush posted the fastest quarter on Monday, covering the distance in :21 3/5. He was produced from the 9-year-old unraced Mr. Prospector mare Hollywood Gold, who is a half-sister to French champion and group I winner Lady In Silver (by Silver Hawk). Robert Scanlon is his consignor, as agent. Last year, the colt was bought back for $57,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July select yearling sale. In 2001, he was bought back for $30,000 at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Toyomi Omiya bred the colt in Kentucky.Three juveniles shared the honors for the fastest time at an eighth of a mile, stopping the clock in :10 1/5. They were a Two Punch -- Duds colt, a Sultry Song -- Hollywood Chief colt, and a Forest Wildcat -- Puff O Luck filly named Mensa Mom. The Two Punch colt worked on Sunday while the Sultry Song colt and the Forest Wildcat Filly breezed on Monday.More workouts are scheduled for March 15 and 16, beginning at 9 a.m. (EST) each day. The sale will be conducted on March 18 and 19, beginning at 11 a.m. each day.
