Whatsthescript, a California grade II winner who placed in the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT), will enter stud at Tom and Debi Stull’s Tommy Town Thoroughbreds near Santa Ynez, Calif. He is owned by the farm and will stand for $4,000.
A stakes winner three straight years for Tommy Town, Whatsthescript experienced his best season in 2008 when he won the American Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park and the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) and finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile behind Goldikova and the previous year’s Mile winner, Kip Deville, at Oak Tree at Santa Anita. Whatsthescript ran second in that year’s Eddie Read Handicap (gr. IT).
Whatthescript won the Pinjara Stakes on grass and a division of the Generous Stakes (gr. IIIT) at 2 and captured the Pasadena Stakes on turf at 3. This year, he placed in the American Handicap and in the Eddie Read and in the Oak Tree Mile Stakes (gr. IIT). He retired with 14 top three finishes from 19 starts and earnings of $907,964.
An Irish-bred, Whatsthescript is by Royal Applauseout of the winning Lion Cavern mare Grizel. He initially raced in Ireland, where he was stakes-placed.
