Binge, a 7-year-old mare by Wild Again in foal to Tale of the Cat, was purchased by Jim Wells for $125,000 to top the first consignor preferred session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2000 Fall Mixed Sale. A half-sister to graded stakes winner Discover and a daughter of the stakes-placed Mr. Prospector mare Find, Binge was consigned by Journeyman Bloodstock (Brent and Crystal Fernung). Brylynn Farm Inc. paid the session second-highest price of $110,000 for Raise a Prince, a 12-year-old stakes winning, stakes producing mare by Raise a Bid in foal to Storm Creek consigned by Emerald Pastures Farm.

A total of 163 horses were sold in the first of three consignor preferred sessions for a gross of $2,599,200, compared with 243 bringing $4,015,200 in the corresponding session a year ago. The average price was $15,946, down 3.5% from the $16,523 average in 1999. The median price of $11,000 equaled last year's median. The buyback percentage of 29.7% more than doubled last year's rate of 14.8%.

The OBS Fall Mixed Sale continues Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the second
consignor preferred session.
