Dollase Considers Illinois for Ten Most Wanted

Chisholm, Horizon Stable and Jarvis, et al's Ten Most Wanted, third in the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III) on Saturday, will likely be on the road for his next start, according to Aimee Dollase, assistant to her father, Wally.

"He's doing good today," Dollase said. "We're all pretty happy with how he ran and I think we'll take him out of town for his next start. We're going to nominate him to the Illinois Derby (gr. II) and the Blue Grass (gr. I) and see how they both come up, competition-wise."

The $500,000 Illinois Derby will be contested at 1 1/8 mile over Hawthorne Race Course's main track on Apr. 5. The $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, also a nine-furlong test, will run on April 12 at Keeneland.

Ten Most Wanted, a son of Deputy Commander and the Criminal Type mare Wanted Again, broke his maiden by eight lengths at a mile in only his second career start on Jan. 5. He went right to stakes company from there, finishing fourth in the Sham Stakes at 1 1/8 miles before his third-place showing Sunday. From four races, the big bay colt owns a win, a second and a third for earnings of $73,460.

"The deeper, sandier tracks like Keeneland should really help him because he's a big, heavy horse," the younger Dollase said. "The tracks like (Santa Anita), which are faster and tighter, really aren't the best for him right now. At least that's what we're thinking at this point."
