With the opening of the main track delayed indefinitely, the March 16 Gotham Stakes, originally scheduled to be run at one mile on the main track around one turn, will be run instead at a mile and 70 yards on the inner track around two turns.

A run of bad weather in the Northeast has caused several cancellations and delayed work on the main track. The Gotham, the traditional prep for the Wood Memorial, drew 53 nominations, including Count Fleet winner Grey Comet and Deputed Testamony winner Cherokee's Boy.

Also being run on Gotham day is the $75,000 Stymie Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at nine furlongs, which was a victim of Saturday's cancellation.

The Aqueduct Spring Meet, which ends on Sunday, May 4th, will officially begin on Wednesday, March 12th. First race post will be 1 p.m., as scheduled.
