Badge of Silver, drew outside post in Louisiana Derby.
A field of 10 hopefuls will attempt to advance along the trail toward the Kentucky Derby Sunday when they face off in the $750,000 Louisiana Derby (gr. II) at Fair Grounds. The 3-year-olds will face off at approximately 4:09 EST.
Although the race has been billed as a showdown between San Vicente (gr. II) winner Kafwain and Risen Star (gr. II) victor Badge of Silver, there is plenty of depth to the field, which will be asked to go 1 1/16 miles.
Kafwain, from Bob Baffert's powerhouse barn, will be joined by another California invader, the Bobby Frankel-conditioned Peace Rules. Also in the cast is Lone Star Sky, winner of the Bashford Manor Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and runner-up to the Ronny Werner-trained Badge of Silver in the Risen Star; and Funny Cide, a two-time stakes winner at Belmont Park last autumn.
All runners will tote 122 pounds. The field for the Louisiana Derby, in post position order with jockeys:
