Wertheimer Farm's Indy Dancer, one of three possible prospects for the $1 million Florida Derby from the barn of Todd Pletcher, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 3/5 at Palm Meadows Tuesday.
The Grade 1 Florida Derby will be contested March 15.
"He's doing well, and he worked well," Pletcher said Wednesday morning at Gulfstream while overseeing the locally based division of his stable. "We haven't ruled out the Florida Derby for Indy Dancer. We'll work him again, probably on Monday or Tuesday next week and then make a decision for sure where he runs next after that work."
Indy Dancer won on a January 4 allowance at Gulfstream despite a slow start and a wide trip. The son of A. P. Indy, who won the1992 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) during his own sophomore season, suffered his lone defeat in the Grade 3 Risen Star at the Fair Grounds in his last trip to the post February 16.
