International performer Jim and Tonic has been retired from racing and will resided at the place of his birth, Haras d'Ecouves in Normandy, France, according to the Racing Post. The 9-year-old gelding competed in France, England, Hong Kong, Singapore, North America, and Dubai, and came away with three championships in France and one in Dubai.
Bred by Haras d'Ecouves, Jim and Tonic (Double Bed -- Jimka, by Jim French) made three starts in North America. He missed winning the 1998 Woodbine Mile Stakes on grass by a head and finished fourth the following year in the race, renamed the Atto Mile Stakes (gr. IT), but was moved up to third because of a disqualification. He then ran unplaced in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Gulfstream Park.
Jim and Tonic was retired with 13 wins from 39 starts and earnings of $4,975,807.
