French champion Sagamix, who became only the third horse in the post-war era to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) while unbeaten, will enter stud at Haras du Logis in France. Sagamix ended his racing career for the Maktoum family's Godolphin and will stand under the banner of Darley Stud Management, a division of Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum's Dalham Hall Stud.
Sagamix entered into select company when winning the 1998 Arc for J.L. Lagardere in his fourth start. Since World War II, only Federico Tesio's Italian wonder horse Ribot and Saeed al Maktoum's Lammtarra won the race to remain undefeated.
Sagamix (Linamix -- Saganeca, by Sagace) also won the Prix Niel (Fr-II) for Lagardere, and ran third in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I) for Godolphin in what was his final start. He enters stud with a record of four wins from nine starts and earnings of $904,956. His fee is 25,000 francs (appoximately $3,250)
