Citing poor track conditions, Turfway Park canceled the remainder of Monday's race card following the third race. The cancellation was the 15th of the current meet. The northern Kentucky track has scheduled nine-race cards on Mondays during the month of March in an effort to make up days lost due to weather and/or poor track conditions.
Racing was also canceled Monday at Suffolk Downs in Boston, Mass., which raced two races before the remainder of the card was called off.
Aqueduct, which had scheduled opening of its main track for training and racing for March 12, has moved that to March 14. The New York track is currently using its inner track for racing and training. The current 12:30 p.m. post time will change to 1 p.m. on March 12.
"By pushing back the opening, Jerry Porcelli and his track crew will be able to work on the track all day on Monday and Tuesday of that week which they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise," said NYRA president and COO Terry Meyocks.
