(from track report)
Our Bobby V., prepping for Saturday's $200,000 San Rafael Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-olds at one mile, blew out two furlongs Friday morning on Santa Anita's fast main track in :24 flat, according to trainer Bill Spawr.

"It was just to get some air in his lungs," said Spawr, who fully expects the gray son of Majesterian to be in front from his No. 1 post position. Our Bobby V., the morning line favorite, is coming off a second-place finish to Domestic Dispute in the Santa Catalina Stakes (gr. II) at 1 1/16 mile on Jan. 18.

"There's a lot of speed (in the race)," Spawr said. "We'll see how much speed they have. We'll be up there on (the pace). I think he'll be ready to negotiate the two turns. He'll probably be in front, but I'll leave it up to Laffit (Pincay Jr.) when the gates open. They'll be putting pressure on him, but from the inside, we'll be in a good spot."

With the defection of Peace Rules on Friday, a field of eight contests the San Rafael.
